Rails is a relatively new open source framework for web application development. Despite this, it is taking the world by storm: many programmers using Rails are rediscovering the joy of programming using excellent, productive tools. It has already been used to build many popular applications, such as Basecamp and Strongspace, and proving itself in demanding real world environments.
In this FastTrack, you will be provided with two days of quality training in Rails, plus a half day of dedicated consultancy to suit your particular needs. Material covered will include:
A tutorial on the Rails environment
An introduction to the Ruby language, the language at the core of Rails
A detailed tour of Rails, covering how to use the code
generators, how to manually write controllers, models and
views, and how to manage errors
An overview of how to make use of the Rails AJAX toolkit, and use the built-in unit testing framework
By the end of the FastTrack, you will be able to use Rails to build a complete, production-ready web application.
Due to the nature of the course, it is only recommended for experienced programmers who have a thorough understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and experience of web programming using raw HTML.
This FastTrack is open to all businesses in the counties of West
Midlands, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire and
Worcestershire.
Unfortunately we cannot offer
FastTracks to any public funded organisations, due to the nature of our funding.
