The National Open Centre launch

The NOC's mission is to be independent and informed, transparent and inclusive and encourage everyone with an interest in Open Source & Open Standards to get involved.

Nearly 100 guests attended the official launch of the National Open Centre which took place on the 26th February 2007. The launch was held in the Houses of Parliament and sponsored by Advantage West Midlands.

Founding partners include the National Computing Centre, Birmingham City Council (Digital Birmingham) and UCE Birmingham (OpenAdvantage). An Advisory Board has been established with over 20 members from a diverse range of interests.

Guests included individuals from the open source community, small and medium sized ICT companies, global ICT companies, MPs, education and other public sector groups and the media.
