FastTrack: Hooking up to Voice over IP

In this two-day FastTrack, the subject of Voice over IP was torn apart, explored and played with in a workshop orientated course.

The delegates split into pairs and each pair was provided with a desktop computer, a computer to run the VoIP software and two VoIP phones. With this collection of cutting edge equipment, the delegates ran through an extensive selection of skills:

* Installing Asterisk@Home
* Creating simple extensions
* Hooking up SIP phones to asterisk
* Adding voicemail to an extension
* Accessing voicemail from the web interface and through the phone
* Setting up Queues
* Creating a Digital Receptionist
* Trunking to a SIP provider
* Adding Hold music
* Call Detail Record (CDR) reporting

The course provided a complete and comprehensive introduction to using VoIP to solve business problems, provide compelling telephone functionality and form the basis for telephony products.

This event was over subscribed and due to the interest in this break-through technology, further free events of its kind will be planned.

Gaining an edge in today's dynamic world of cutting-edge technologies is crucial. Delegates taking part in our free events and realising the freedom, choice and control which Open Source delivers are gaining that vital edge.
